On-Site Housing Support

Committed to advocating for and supporting our clients in their journey towards stable housing.

At the Welcome Centre Shelter for Women and Families, we provide on-site housing support to assist individuals and families in transitioning out of homelessness. Housing support services provided include personalized case management services, where every client meets with a dedicated case manager to identify their housing goals and needs. Together, they develop a tailored action plan that outlines steps to secure stable housing and exit the shelter system.

Our Housing Support Case Managers offer assistance with various aspects of the housing search process, including exploring options on the private market or supportive housing, completing applications for the Central Housing Registry, and liaising with prospective landlords. In addition to these services, we also offer support with ID replacement, applications for income assistance and referrals to community resources. Once housing is secured, we provide practical support to clients preparing for their move out, such as obtaining necessities for their new home, distributing food packages, and offering vouchers to purchase furniture and housewares.

We recognize and acknowledge the challenges we face in providing housing support, including the high cost of living, lack of affordable housing options, high rent costs, and low social assistance rates. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to advocating for and supporting our clients in their journey towards stable housing.
